Pump prices continue to inch lower, thanks to the crude oil retreat. But it's interesting to note that gas prices don't follow the crude drop, in percentage terms, on a similar timeline. Gas station owners are still pumping fuel that they purchased on the wholesale market when crude was 10 to 20 dollars a barrel higher, so they're reluctant to sell that higher priced fuel at a loss. But if oil continues to drift lower, pump prices will eventually catch up, and that could mean three dollar a gallon gas - or lower - again.
