Are There Any Skating Rinks Left?

 

It's interesting how one thing leades to another.  A person I follow on the micro blogging platform Twitter (I have two Twitter streams, one for this blog, and another for general, personal use) posted a quick blurb about skating rinks, that he missed them, and wondered what happened to them. So I did a quick search for a well known rink in the Virginia countryside called Hugo's.  I've passed by it numerous times, but I don't remember ever stopping to lace up the skates.  I discovered this great picture of the 'big skate', a can't miss landmark in front of Hugo's. Alas, it seems Hugo's has gone the way of the Dodo, if extinct birds could transform into flea markets. (picture courtesy of Karen Burton, on JPGMag.com)
